Gas Line Repair in Oregon

Weighted across 1,063,172 occupied homes. The spread inside the state is the point: West Linn is highest on mains at 69%, and Gales Creek has the largest propane share at 19%. A state figure describes neither.

The two arrangements, and why the difference is not cosmetic

Of the 100 towns we route in here, 20 are mostly on mains gas, 3 have a substantial propane share, 49 are split between the two and 28 use very little gas of any kind.

On a mains connection, 49 CFR § 192.3 ends the regulated service line at "the outlet of the customer meter or at the connection to a customer’s piping, whichever is further downstream" — so part of the system is the operator’s. On propane there is no service line and no meter boundary, and the whole installation is the property owner’s.

Checking a plumber in Oregon

Oregon licenses are issued by the Oregon Building Codes Division, Department of Consumer and Business Services, which publishes a public search you can use before work begins. Plumbing businesses in Oregon must also hold a Construction Contractors Board license, which is a separate search.

Gas work is separately permitted and separately licensed in most jurisdictions, so ask specifically about gas rather than plumbing in general.
